老實說呢,還不錯看!只是有時候會懷疑自己眼睛是不是花了,Justin Timberlake的演技好像都差不了太多,感覺每部片他都有一號表情跟二號演技。好啦~我太多個人意見了。(告退) 讓你們好好欣賞那種花錢如流水的澎湃感吧!

Richie, a Princeton college student who pays for school with on-line gambling, bottoms out and travels to Costa Rica to confront the on-line mastermind,Ivan, whom he believes has swindled him. Ivan sees a kindred spirit in Richie and brings the younger man into his operation. When the stakes get incredibly high and dangerous, and Richie comes to fully understand the deviousness of his new boss, he tries to turn the tables on him.

 

  • bottom out [ˈbɑtəm aʊt] (p.v.) (價格等) 達到最低點。

        Example: Prices bottomed out and started to rise again after a while.

 

  • confront [kənˈfrʌnt] (v.) 與…當面對證(或對質)。

        Example: I could not bring myself to confront him about it.

 

  • mastermind [ˈmæstɚˌmaɪnd] (n.) (常指罪案)主謀、出謀策劃的人、幕後操縱者。

  • swindle [ˈswɪndl] (v.) 詐騙、騙取、欺詐(尤指錢財)。

        Example: A City businessman swindled investors out of millions of dollars.

 

  • kindred (adj.) 類似的、相似的。

        Example: I recall many discussions with her on these and kindred topics.

 

  • stake [stek] (n.) (比賽或行動的) 賭注、風險。

        Example: The political stakes could hardly have been higher for Mr. Blair.

 

  • deviousness [di:viəs] (n.) 奸詐、陰險、狡猾。

        Example: Besides, deviousness isn't your style.

 

  • Turn the tables on somebody (Idiom) 扭轉乾坤、扭轉情勢。

        Example: She turned the tables on her rival with allegations of corruption.


Ivan Block: This is your job. You want a clear conscience, go start a charity. But if you want your own island and your boss says you gotta go out there and take a beating, you go out there, take it and come back to work and say, 'do you need me to do it again? '

Ivan Block: 這是你的工作。你想要問心無愧,去發展慈善事業。但如果你想要屬於你自己的小島,你的老闆說你必須要出去挨打,你就到外頭去,挨頓打然後回來工作,還要問我「你還需要我再挨一頓打嗎?」

 

  • conscience [ˈkɑnʃəns] (n.) 良心、良知。

        Example: I have battled with my conscience over whether I should actually send this letter.

 

  • clear conscience 問心無愧。

        Example: Not only did he pay back the money, also bought himself a clear conscience.

        Example: Can you shift the blame onto him alone and yet have a clear conscience?


Ivan Block: If I wasn't your friend, I'd say your dad was a deadbeat.

Ivan Block: 假如我不是你朋友,我就會說你爸是個無賴了。

 

  • deadbeat ['dɛd'bit] (n.) (俗) 賴債不還的人、欠錢不還的人、游手好閒者。

        Example: Do not get me wrong. My friend was not a deadbeat.


Ivan Block: He's jealous. He sees what you have. He sees what you're gonna have and he's plugging away for chump change.

Ivan Block: 他那是嫉妒。他看到你所擁有的。他看到你即將擁有的,他自己埋頭苦幹也才賺那點點小錢。

 

  • plug away [plʌɡ əˈwe] (p.v.) 埋頭苦幹、孜孜不倦地做。

        Example: My confidence is still there and I'll just keep plugging away.

 

  • chump change [tʃʌmp tʃendʒ] (n.) 很少的錢、數量很少的錢。

        Example: He's even given money toward building the new community center and it wasn't chump change either.
