相信大家都曾聽過所謂的「七宗罪」或「七原罪」。
這個題材雖然常出現在電影或文學裡，但未必人人都說的出到底是那七條罪，所以今天就來跟大家討論一下吧。
The Seven Deadly Sins
1. Lust = 色欲 / 欲望
Craving for the pleasures of the body.
肉體的欲望。
2. Gluttony = 暴食
To consume more than one requires.
過度放縱食慾、酗酒。
3. Greed = 貪婪
Desire for material wealth.
金錢上的過份追求。
4. Sloth = 懶惰
Avoidance of physical or spiritual work.
逃避的欲望。
5. Wrath = 憤怒
Revenge and feelings of hatred.
源自憎恨的不當感覺。
6. Envy = 妒忌
Desire for what others have.
妒忌的人希望他人失去。
7. Pride = 傲慢
The original and most serious of the seven deadly sins ( as this was the sin committed by Lucifer ).
Desire to be more important than others, showing an excessive love of self.
把自己定位成比他人 ( 或上帝 ) 更優秀的存在。
Punishment in Hell / 地獄的懲罰
Lust --> Smothered in fire and brimstone = 以硫磺和火焰熏悶
Gluttony --> Force-fed rats, toads, and snakes = 強迫餵食老鼠，蟾蜍和蛇
Greed --> Boiled alive in oil = 在熱油中煎熬
Sloth --> Thrown in to a pit of snakes = 丟入蛇坑內
Wrath --> Dismembered alive = 活體肢解
Envy --> Put in freezing water = 投入冰水之中
Pride --> Broken on a wheel = 以輪子輾裂
